The Casa do Redondo is located in the traditional village of Rabaçal in Meda, an historical and beautifully region full of heritage and traditions. This is an excellent place to visit the Beiras region including the archaeological Foz Coa Valley and Douro Superior or to discover the historic villages ("Aldeias Hstóricas" ), like Marialva, and the medieval village of Trancoso.

In Rabaçal there are two manor houses belonging to the Sampaio e Mello Family.

The older one, still belonging to the family, in baroque style, dates back to the 18th century, more specifically the second half, and has undergone several restorations over time, having preserved its original features on the outside but with some changes inside.

Years later, the firstborn decided to build the big house where he came to live in, leaving the single sisters in the mother house. This second manor house, better known as Solar do Morgado, was abandoned by the heirs.

In the April revolution, already very degraded, the manor was occupied by the people. Some family members got together and decided to offer it to the Diocese of Lamego.
