CASA DO ALTO DA EIRA - VILA RUIVA, CUBA

This welcoming country house, with plain white walls and red wooden doors, is located at Albergaria dos Fusos, in the municipality of Cuba, in Baixo Alentejo. It is surrounded by a rural landscape, being the result of a meticulously restoration work carried out by its owners, that have created an alluring accommodation where the original features of Alentejo's traditional houses were maintained, offering plenty of comfort and providing a high quality service.

Inside, the four comfortable bedrooms (one double and three twins), with private bathrooms, combine the typical rusticity with the necessary comfort of our days. The large living room with its typical fireplace and wood-oven was built for the cold winter days, inviting us to relax.

In the exterior the biological swimming pool, generously proportioned, is a complete ecosystem.

It is situated on the highest part of the village Albergaria dos Fusos at the place where "Eiras" (threshing-floors) where used to dry cereals and the entry through the main door will immediately reveal an inviting interior where details were carefully kept, preserving the schist and the ceramic paving slabs, thus providing a natural atmosphere well integrated in the surroundings, allowing days of total relaxation. Surprisingly, an impressive wall surrounding a magic garden and an appreciable terrace was built with local stones collected in the fields.

The four ample rooms with graceful wrought iron beds (one double and three twins), all with en suite private bathrooms, combine the typical rusticity with contemporary standards. A pretty traditional Portuguese kitchen with immense charm is a temptation to cook your own meals. The whole interior decoration is dominated by wooden and iron furnishings made by a local craftsman, giving to the house its original characteristics.

In the exterior a biological swimming pool, generously proportioned, practically the same size of the house, is a complete ecosystem, graced by a barbecue area. There is also a part that, although partially submerged, serves to separate the surprising area of aquatic plants from the main swimming area. Beyond the pool, stands a traditional olive grove, nearby the house’s unsurpassable biological garden. May you feel tempted to walk the trail that leads to the Dam of Alvito and you will truly be in contact with pure nature.

All necessary amenities are close to hand and in the local grocer's shop all basic items may be acquired. From this pretty holiday refugee you can, not only, contemplate nature and the countryside in all its splendor, but also, get the opportunity to discover the real Alentejo and get delighted by the rich cuisine of the region.
