QUINTA DAS LAVANDAS - SÍTIO DE VALE DORNAS, CASTELO DE VIDE
Quinta das Lavandas is located at the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, just 4 km from the center of Castelo de Vide, one of the most beautiful towns in the Portugal. This magnificent and unique country estate house has 20 acres of lavenders plantation.
In the surroundings, there are multiple activities: birdwatching, hiking, dams, river, mountains and riding centres, which invite you to wander around the region and discover the true Alentejo.
Quinta das Lavandas also has an alembic to distil the essential oils from the lavender produced on the farm. Watching it distilling during the flowering months, using the steam distillation technique, is one of the activities proposed to guests and visitors.
There are about 65 thousand lavender plants in two varieties: Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandim grosso bleu, whose main purpose is the production of essential oils and traditional products.
