CASA DAS RENDUFAS - RENDUFAS DA ESTRADA, TORRES NOVAS

Casa das Rendufas is located in Rendufas da Estrada, in the municipality of Torres Novas, in the Central region of Portugal. With architectonic characteristics of Ribatejo's houses, this was the main house of the village of Rendufas, hence the adoption of the name and the presence of a chapel.

The house, built in the late 20th century, forms a harmonious set with the three adjoining rural dependencies, recently restored and converted into Rural Tourism - Country House.

Though featuring a rustic style, each unit is modern and includes a TV and a seating area. Private bathrooms come with free toiletries.

Due to its location, you can enjoy mountain views to the Serra de Aires from each bedroom. All accommodations have its own private entrance ,garden and a terrace. The tranquil setting is enhanced by the presence of a chapel.

Casa das Rendufas is 17 km from Fátima, Ourém, Tomar and Torre Novas. Golegã, known for its equestrian tradition, and Almorol Castle are also around 17 km away.

Only the occasional chiming of bells from the chapel next door disturbs the peace at this tranquil rural hideaway. Perched prettily at the top of a narrow village street overlooking olive groves, fig trees and mountains, the imposing whitewashed house combines traditional style with great comfort. Light, airy bedrooms filled with antiques are divided between the main building, an annexe, a converted barn and a studio cottage. All have super mattresses and simple decor; choose between a cosy, beamed room with a porthole window, sleeping on a mezzanine in the rustic studio, or in a wonderful wooden sleigh bed. Immaculate bathrooms with slick fittings firmly belong to the 21st century. A lovely continental breakfast, including delicious fig confit made at the Casa, is offered at a couple of tables in the elegant dining room, but if you'd rather self-cater, the barn and studio both have little kitchenettes. Outside, there's a sparkling pool surrounded by ancient olive trees.

The thoughtful owner is full of inspired suggestions for exploring the local area; among the highlights are the medieval castles at Tomar and Ourém.
