HISTORY

Located in the parish of Tabuadelo, in Guimarães, this property has belonged to the same family since the mid 15th century. The owners have always lived in it and it was repaired and refashioned through the centuries. The last important repairing was made by Dr. João da Costa Santiago de Carvalho e Sousa, uncle great-grandfather of the current owner.

The house had a lodge to pilgrims and it worked until the end of last century. However, it was not useful any more, being closed immediately after the beginning of a fire caused by a passenger.

Nowadays, it is property of Mrs. Maria Tereza de Morais Pimentel Seara Cardoso and Mr. João Santiago de Sottomayor.

In order to keep the house according to the present needs, the owners approved to open it to the guests, affording them the chance to admire values and risks of the past life, of which we are now almost deprived.
