HISTORY

Located in the parish of S. Cipriano de Taboadelo, on the road out of Guimarães, to the road of Covas towards to Penha.

Is property of the same family since the middle 15th century. Owners always lived on it; all long the centuries , it was repaired and refashioned. The last important repairing were made by Dr. João da Costa Santiago de Carvalho e Sousa, uncle great-grandfather of present owner.

Paço de S. Cipriano is a building with U sketch, between the garden and the kitchen-garden.

The house had a lodge to pilgrims and it worked until the end of last century. However, it was not useful any more, being closed immediately after a beginning of fire caused by a passenger.

Nowadays is property of D. Maria Tereza de Morais Pimentel Seara Cardoso and D. João Santiago de Sottomayor.

In order to keep the house according to the present needing, the owners approved to open it to the guests, affording them the chance of admire values and risks of the past life, of which we are now almost deprived.
