MONTE DA CORTE LIGEIRA - CABEÇA GORDA, BEJA

This typical Alentejo house is set in a large agricultural estate characterised by plantations of oak trees, brilliant glazing blue skies, and quiet days.

Within an area of 250 ha, this country house blends its traditional decorations and the peace of the countryside to all the modern comforts of this restored house, inviting you to a pleasant stay.

Comfort was a clear priority and the rustic but tasteful decoration mixes paintings by well-known painters, sacred art, crockery, old tiles and hand-made tiles, in a warm and welcoming harmony. The eight rooms (seven twins and one double), very personalised and different from each other, can lead to the bright and gardened exterior, or to a colourful and fresh interior patio.

The main living room is large, inviting and complemented by a huge games room.

It is a true rural haven where you can fish in several dams on the estate, hunt, taste the local wines, take a pony ride or a refreshing dip in the pool. Courtesy and friendliness are melted with the owners hospitability to turn your stay into a perfect memory.

The house was carefully restored by the current owners, Ilídio and Francisca de Matos. About eighteen years ago, when they acquired the property, the Monte was quite dilapidated. The restoration work was entrusted to an architect to ensure the quality of the work and to preserve what was possible of the old construction, which was well achieved.
