Gardens Itineraries through the Solares

On the tour “Gardens of Solares”, you can find the great green fields and the big mountains all around the country. In Minho you can visit Ponte de Lima and its great gardens, like Parque Temático do Arnado and, between May and October the International Garden Festival of Ponte de Lima.

Here, you can also discover Casas Antigas, Quintas e Herdades and Casas Rústicas, all surround by beautiful gardens.

You also can choose accommodation at Casas no Campo or Aldeias de Portugal. They also have beautiful gardens, such as Casa do Outeiro, Casa do Barreiro or Paço de Calheiroswith its historical gardens.

Near Viana do Castelo, the gardens of Casa do Amealare reference and at 3km from Barcelos the gardens of Casa do Monte invites you to a romantic world.

In Guimarães, you can visit Paço de S. Cipriano with its splendid historic and classified garden.

Near Celorico de Basto Casa do Campo, boasts a prize-winning garden, with its immaculately trimmed Camellias contoured into graceful designs. Specialists claim that the oldest Camellia in Portugal is to be found here.

If you prefer to travel on Douro, you must visit Casa de Santo António de Britiande, at about 5 km from Lamego. This house is situated on the outskirt of the famous Douro Valley.

In Luso, Vila Duparchy offers a garden with several exotic species. Don’t loose the visit to the garden of Solar Abreu Madeira, in Canas de Senhorim, and the visit to the two classified trees (a Dragoeiro and a Til), with more then 100 years old from Casa do Castelonear Peniche.

Near Lisbon, you can find Palácio de Rio Frio, in Pinhal Novo, at about 10 km from Montijo with its a romantic garden.
