How to Get There

From Porto Airport: Take the A1 to Lisbon, get out of A1 at Torres Novas, take the N118 follow the directions to Abrantes continue on N118 to Alpalhão, then when you arrive to Alpalhão take the N246 to Castelo de Vide, here follow the directions to Póvoa e Meadas, follow the signpost Quinta da Bela Vista to find the house.
From Lisbon: Take A2 / Sul motorway and then A6 until Estremoz. From here follow the IP2 / N18 to Portalegre. Once arriving in Portalegre take the N246 road Castelo de Vide and from here follow the directons to Póvoa e Meadas where you will find the house.

Stay here and you are in total communion with nature. The house is located in a farm estate where you can enjoy the scenario of rural life in all its richness including, not least, the opportunity to taste the locally produced wine. There is a swimming pool, horse riding, cycling and mini golf.

HISTORY
In the Castelo de Vide council, near Marvão e Portalegre; the Quinta da Bela Vista is, in every season, the guarantee of absolute restfullness and communion with nature, in a good country house.
The history of the house itself is one with the story of local development, a titanic fight of men at odds with the wild and unfavourable nature.
It was built in the 30's by Eng. José Custódio Nunes, a pionneer of electricity in Portugal, following the sketch of the famous architect Cassiano Branco. It was in this house that the owner thought over the projects that led to the construction of the Póvoa e Meadas Dam, the first hidroelectric use of an energetic reservoir artificially formed known in Portugal.
As a man in love with the culture of his homeland, Eng. José Custódio Nunes was able to show in Quinta da Bela Vista without ostentation, the noblest values about rural tradition.
The Quinta da Bela Vista refers the confort and the convenience of a good country house, elegantly decorated with authentic furniture from te end of the nineteenth century. It has, at your disposal in the main house, five confortable sleeping rooms, a living room, a tv room, a room for games and a bar, as well as two residences with a common room, a fire place and a totaly equiped kitchen.
Because of its privileged location, Quinta da Bela Vista gives you the opportunity of enjoying it's nice surroundings, by visiting Castelo de Vide, Marvão, Portalegre, Nisa, Flor da Rosa, the Póvoa dam and other points of interest of Northeastern Alentejo.
As the area is rich in big and small game, you can also enjoy hunting, or you can first handly watch the agricultural work in the Quinta, like the fruit harvest, the milking of cows, the pig slaughter, the grape harvest and the making of wine. You are invited to participate in the tasting of wines and saussages in its traditional cellar.
If you prefer, you also have the possibility of riding on a horse or a bycicle, playing snooker or table tennis or of refreshing yourself in the swimming pool or bettering your play in the tennis court, after having started a good day, fasting a typical breakfast composed by homemade bread.
