Situated close to the spa of S. Vicente, in the way of Penafiel to Entre-os-Rios, Quinta da Maragoça, is a house of the 18th century that offers an ample panoramic view of the landscape of Douro Litoral. It is a truly place of well-being and leisure, where beyond of foot tours or bicycle ridings, people can still usufruct of a spa, fitness and sauna spaces and a therapeutical massage room and treatments. Here we can find history and stories of different centuries, a truly travel through Baroque period.
From Oporto Airport: follow the Motorway A4 in direction to Amarante/Vila Real. Leave on the exit to Penafiel Sul/Entre-os-Rios and follow the indications to Entre-os-Rios trough the road EN106, until "Oldrões". On the Traffic Lights turn right in direction to "Valpedre" on the road EN590. You will find the house at your right around 1,5 km ahead.

Situated close to the spa of São Vicente, this enchanting 18th century house is ideal for re-invigorating body and mind. The spa provides a whole range of treatments, there are lovely gardens to explore on foot, cycling tours, hiking, and tennis. The panoramic views of the landscape as you head for the house towards Penafiel on the way to Entre-os-Rios are breath-taking.

HISTORY
The original house, given in XII century ( 1154 )by the monks of Paços de Sousa”s monastery to D. Hugo bishop of Porto at that time, was offered to one of the ancestors of the current family, who was tought to be an illegitimate son of D. Afonso V, King of Portugal in the XVI century.
Since then this property has remained in the family and the main house is now considered a national monument and classified by IPA (Institute of Architecture Patrimony)
